I’m Sleepy and I Can’t Wake Up! Give Me Back My Hour!

Happy Marvelous Monday to you! This is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!

How was your weekend? I don’t have anything deep to discuss today, or not right now at least. Tomorrow we can talk about Obama reversing Bush’s stem cell research bill or the fact that a tornado touched down in Indiana where many of my loved ones are or the fact that Circuit City is about to lay off 34,000 people (in case you think I made a mistake let me spell it out, thirty four thousand!).  Nah, let’s not talk about any of those things this morning. I’m still sleepy. Why you may ask?  COULD IT BE THIS TIME CHANGE!

Forgive me for getting so bent out of shape but check this out. Last week I was wearing sunglasses to work! The babies (well, teenagers) that were standing on the corner waiting on the school bus looked safe. I could see all the soldiers running in the street beside my car doing their morning PT as I drove by. All was good! Today, I kid you not; it was pitch black! There was no way I could wear my sunglasses, the babies didn’t seem safe out there waiting on the school bus and I got right upon a running soldier before I could see him! I fretted about that one. He happened to be on the other side of the street but what if he had been on my side?

Here’s the thing, I’m not a farmer and I don’t rely on daylight to help me make a living.  For them, I’m glad they have that hour.  All that extra hour of daylight is going to do for me is keep me outside with my flowers until 10:00 pm instead of 9:00 pm and cut down on my “good for my health” sleep time! Ocassionally, I am sleepy by eight o’clock at night. And when I am, I go to sleep. Now I will be going to sleep when it is still light outside?!

Before long it will be daylight at 5:30 am and stay light until 9:30 pm. I don’t know about you but once it is light outside, I am awake. So I’m going to have to learn to sleep within the parameters of those dark eight hours and live life the other sixteen!

Holla back and tell me how you did with the time change and if you are little sleepy today! Still…it is a Marvelous Monday!

zzzzzzzzz I’ve already been dozing at work this morning after a very tiring weekend. I had some caffeine, which I only drink on mornings like this, and I’m waiting for lunch when I can hopefully have a power nap to refresh me for the afternoon. I particularly enjoy having the longer hours of light on the weekend when I’m out and about or travelling on the road. For my kids, it means they can play outside longer.

I woke up bright and early not even thinking about the time change. Sleep interrupted explains most of my mornings unless I have taken a sleeping pill. I am glad that i was up though since my neice didnt realize that time had changed and had to be awaken from her hard sleep so she could catch the school bus on time. Today I tried to catch up on my emails, and already i need a muscle relaxer from just sitting in front of the computer. It would be nice to take a early morning ride on post just to bring back memories, although i can no longer imagine going to a full time job while it is still dark outside. Its a blessing though to have a job at any time, but especially during this rough economy. Did every one see on the news how over 500 people have applied for one janitor position at a middle school near Canton Ohio where the unemployment rate is currently at 12 percent. My daughter had two jobs in November when one company filed bankruptcy and laid everyone off. Now her second job has cut her to 10 hours a week. Plus my ex was cut to 4 days a week in October, and I havent received any alimony since december. For the time being we are managing, but we definately could use a bail-out.
Wake up America! The time has changed and we need to get up now.

Wow. So much despair in the economy. Did you see in this post where I said Circuit City is laying off 34,000. Whenever I hear things like that, I don’t blow it off. I think but for the grace of God there go I or my children or my siblings or my cousins or my friends! And I feel so bad for everyone and anyone this recession has hurt. It’s a catch 22 though. We are afraid to spend because of the economy yet that is why the economy is like it is, because we won’t spend and because of all of that, we are loosing jobs and then won’t have any to spend.

I say, let’s all take our piggy banks and saved change (coins) and declare a day set aside just to spend money! That is brilliant. Let me go and call Mr. Obama and tell him about spend your piggy bank day! Miriam, you want to do this with me? Become famous for a brilliant idea? Get back with me.

Well for me I’m so glad that the time has finally sprung forward. I love the fact that day light is going to be around longer.

I’m was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. For those to don’t know where that is located it’s on the West coast between Seattle, WA and CA. And for those that are wondering what color I am? I’m Black!! LOL

I can remember when I was younger having to go to bed at 8:00 pm and the sun and the kids would still be playing outside while the bright sun was still shining in my room. I would be so mad at my mother for making my brothers and I go to bed so early.. But when the weekend came watch out because we could play outside until 11:00 pm because it didn’t get dark until then.

I do worry about the babies outside early in the morning and it’s still dark here in GA. and the soldiers got doing PT but it’s nothing like having those long days of beautiful sunshine.. I hate that I lost an hour a sleep but I’ll make up for it on the weekend!!!!

  5. Kathy says:

It stayed dark until 11:00 pm???

  6. Tori says:

It sure did stay dark until 11:00pm.. We are very close to Alaska so are days are some what like theirs.. I loved it growing up.

Well the time change is something hard to get use to, especially when you lived some places that never, ever experienced the clocks going forward or backward. And living overseas for some years, yes it could be hard to adjust living back in the USA. It would be nice to just take a early morning drive to Savannah Beach/Tybee Island, GA bringing back memories that seeing the tide goes out in the early morning as the sun is about to rise in the 7:30am hour on the ocean. This is very romantic. I enjoy the longer hours of daylight, because I can accomplish a few things that the early darkness sometimes make me very sleepy. I can sleep when I’m very tired, especially when night falls early, but now since it’s more daylight, I can hang for a few hours more. It’s just a blessing to get up anyway and see what God has to offer in this day and time. The rough economy, people losing jobs, many jobs and just to think I will retire from the military in less than 2 years and I have to find work in Corporate American or get started now building a business so I could be financially stable when my military life is finish. I can’t wait. But back to I’m sleepy and I can’t wake up, yes!, please give me back my hour just to live in “Fantasy Island” for just one time. Holla back!

  8. Kathy says:

Holla back??? lol. Aren’t you something Mr. Romantic!

  9. Monique Davis says:

LOL!! He’s got me chuckling too! It’s all good.

  10. Tori says:

Wow how romantic is that Mr. Curry!!! I didn’t think about the beach. Man it would be nice to be lazy on the beach these days or perhaps take a cruise somewhere very exotic. I’m looking forward to the fresh fruit and cold ice drinks. Yeah I love the fact that the time has changed and I will enjoy the long lazy days and dream since the economy is so bad right now. But like you I do feel blessed to wake each day and see another beautiful long day..

  11. I am supposed to be at work at 8:00 a.m.. I make it there by 8:15 at lease, then I usually have a bowl of cereal and some fruit, then it is time for me to take a nap. There have been many a mornings that by 9:00 I have had my nap and then wake up and do some work, and this was before I got sick. My boss is wonderful. Then right after lunch I feel the need to do it again. It has only been two days and it has beat the Hello out of me. I will be so glad when my next two years are up. There are two days a week that I have to put in a full day. It wears me out. I go to bed on those days at about 5:00, I get off work at 4:00. With the economy being so bad, my job is going full steam. The governor is trying to do away with our office. They have been trying for about 10 years.

  12. Dose any one out there know anything about Wheatgrass and what it is good for.

  13. Kathy says:

@delores goodson – we all need a job like that!

i am a person that change is hard even a hour up or a down

  15. Karlissa says:

i already stay tired cuz i work entirely too much but it was extra awful esp at church…i was fidgetin like i had a condition or somethin. i wasn’t the only one tired though-dude on the choir looked like he was OUT! this has never been as bad though. it’s 1:10 and i just woke up like an hour ago! hopefully this will wear off!

  16. Karlissa says:

@Karlissa – ok, so i know i’m weird but i just noticed that the times on the blog have not sprung forward! lol…random, i know but that’s weird!

  17. Kendall Blake says:

That hour sure does make a difference. I just wonder how long it will take my body to get use to the change, because even though its just an hour, I can surely tell.. and so can Kaiden. He has been going to bed super late. The other day, they even had to have a two hour delay because the kids walking to school couldnt see and it had rained the night before, so it would have been kids accidentally walking through puddles, while on their way to school. But then again they cancel school here for anything.

  18. Kathy says:

    @Karlissa – uh… you are right!

  19. Kathy says:

@Kendall Blake – My body’s natural wake up time is typically between 5:15 am and about 5:30 am, and that is regardless of what time I go to bed. Yesterday I woke up at 6:28 am and my husband and I were both late! My body said it was 5:28 am not 6:28 am! Yikes!
