20 Ways To Waste Money. Or Not!

Posted by Kathy Curry | Chit Chat | Monday 10 August 2009 9:54 am

Happy Monday to you! How ya feeling this morning? Me too! I had a big event with my job on Saturday.  I worked from 10:30 am until 10:30 pm. I’m glad it’s over.

I was online this morning and came across 18 ways to make $100.00 a month. As I am always looking for ways to bring in extra income, I read the article. It was kind of interesting. Most of the things it suggested, I am not qualified to do. Then I came across this article called: 20 Ways To Waste Your Money. I found that even more interesting. I personally don’t know many people that are rich/well off but I do know people, including myself, that waste a lot of money stupidly. For instance, I have bought shoes that I have nothing to go with! Then I have to find an outfit to wear them with. I have so many shoes, and when I really stop and think about it, I could use that shoe money to either help someone or make that money work for me in a better way. Honestly, I think I have enough shoes to wear a different pair for 365 days. Hmmm….. as much as I like shoes, that is ridiculous and I’m wasting money!

Step one in my efforts to not waste money, reading this article and sharing it with you. I have told you about my wasteful ways with my shoe addiction. Share with us your wasteful ways but more importantly, PLEASE let us know of things you have done to save money! Maybe something you are doing can be helpful and useful for us all! Also, share with us some things you know about that we can do on the side to bring in extra money.  I  believe there are many ways to supplement our lives these days, we just have to find that ”on the side” job that works for you!

Below is the article.  Holla back!

Hi Kathy!,You earn the right to buy any number pairs of shoes you desire. You work hard to do those things. You help people,a whole lot of folks, even if its’ giving advice, sharing a ride, loaning or giving money to get then over the hump for the moment. You help people. So, you are not wasting money. Now on the other hand, I’m the one that waste money, not paying attention to my bank account, giving the bank a “whopping thirty-five dollars a shot when my account is overdrawn for small amount of stuff. Who’s paying $35.00 for a $2.86 cheese burger? Wow! that’s ridculous!!! I can or could have save that. One way to save money, eat out at least twice a month, compare to ten times a montn. Also, not buy too much groceries when you’re/we’re not home to consumed them. We save only when we purchase what we really need, not what we really want. Okay, that will bring home extra money each month. Now that’s saving and you don’t have to had a desire for a part time job. Holla back!

  2. YOu have enough shoes to fill up the payless shoe store that closed up. I think it was all those shoes that made your clothes fall in your closet. It is alraight to have a lot of those things because as a whole we don’t spend a lot of money on anything else and if your husband give you the OK you know it must be alright.

Something that many people don’t point out: many people spend a lot of money on something. When people criticize others for spending, they are being a hypocrite most of the time.

I don’t have a way to save money except to make use of the opportunities that exist out there. There are always sales out there and other ways to save money.

Yes, I agree Tom. We all justify spending money on whatever we want, but as you say, there are ways to save money on even those things! Even my shoes, I have been blessed to wear a size that is not as common as other sizes so I find sales in my size. Also, I shop around. A good friend of mine, my son and brother have taught me that! My girlfriend hates it because she says I usually go back to the first place and buy but still, I have to shop around! And sales might be in those places you would never dream of looking. One year for Christmas my husband was getting this daughter a kitchen thingy. I went online and searched and it seemed we were going to pay $129.00 or more. We went to KMart and it was $129.00. We went literally across the parking lot to Target and got it for $99.00. Exact same thing! If you can’t do the math, that is a $30.00 savings!!! Who would have thought it would cost more at KMart than Target and that much more. Patience and shopping around do pay!

Maybe we will talk on this topic more often.
