What Happens In Vegas Stays… In The Heart!
I know Las Vegas is called “Sin City” for numerous reasons. The excitement and adventure of Las Vegas, with casinos galore, can sweep you away and, I believe, cause addictions, especially gambling…but there is so much more!
I just returned from a weekend in Las Vegas. I went for my niece’s first birthday and a surprise retirement party for my brother. Believe it or not, I didn’t drop as much as one nickel in a slot machine and it’s Vegas, they are everywhere! I could have begun gambling as early as my arrival to the airport but surprisingly, I wasn’t even tempted. Will I go back? Certainly. But not for the shows or gambling or the excitement, all that is nice and one day I will experience some of that excitement, God knows, they have it in abundance; I will go back for the calm serenity I felt and the spectacularly beautiful landscape I encountered.
I have been there once before but this time I soaked it all in. That is, the overwhelmingly and undeniable picturesque piece of the world called Las Vegas. We did the strip and even that was a perfect work of lights, sizzle and Bling Bling! It will make anyone sit up and gaze in amazement, but the part of Las Vegas that is so severely understated is all the rest! E.g. – the mountains and the trees and the rocks and the backdrop and the gorgeous homes and equally gorgeous neighborhoods, etc. It was a piece of serenity and breath taking beauty I thoroughly enjoyed.
Below is a picture of me and my sisters. You may not be able to make us out very well but what you can see and sense is the beauty surrounding us. Really, if you haven’t been, you must go and do Vegas and what will happen in Vegas, you won’t want to stay in Vegas. You will want to bring it back with you!
Vegas rocks!!!
Holla back!

About 20 years ago or more I had a friend that went to Las Vegas all the time and he went for the gambling and all the rest of the sin . He told me then that the city was about the size of New Paris Ohio and had the lights of New York. Judy has tried to get me to come out for several years but i have just never gone. I am sure it has grown since 20 years ago. There was a program on TV and it said there are about 3000 people that move into Las Vegas each week and about 5000 that move out.

@delores goodson – Wow. That is quite a turnover.
Let me start by saying the slot machines were in the airport as soon as I got off the plane. The devil was busy because I didn’t have time to drop as much as a nickel in the slot machine (as Kathy put it). Unlike my sister, I had every intention on doing just that AND a co-worker gave me money to drop for her too. I told my father, I can’t put God in a box……I don’t know how he’s going to pour out his blessings upon me! No, I’m playin……sort of :0)
I LOVED Vegas! If I didn’t have children, I would try to move there (I would have to talk my husband into it). It was BEAUTIFUL and peaceful. That’s crazy to say Vegas is peaceful but it was. I plan on going back and spending more time instead of in and out for the weekend.
p.s. Re: the pic…..we all happened to take black tops. Ain’t that something!
You three are hilarious!! I eloped and married in Las Vegas!! It was wonderful. 26 yrs ago, I loved it. An intimate and private way to marry and honeymoon. The minister that performed the ceremony was from Richmond IN. I did slots and keno and won some nice money…yes, I did. Went with intentions to do just that. I made one other trip since then, I just don’t handle the heat well. Don’t know what I’d do if I could get up each morning and look at those gorgeous mountains. Everyone should go at least once….beautiful country. I must admit, standing and waiting in line to get married was the funniest.
Not a “wait in line” wedding! lol. How on earth did you go to Las Vegas to elope and end up being married by a minister from my hometown, Richmond, IN? Did you take him/her with you?
Isn’t Vegas beautiful? I remember when we lived in CA for two months some 35 years old (said that under my breath as I cleared my throat). My sister’s bedroom was the only one that had a clear view of the mountains. I would go in there and just stare out her window in awe. I came from Indiana, a mountain less state and that was all I knew. One day I was in a travel agency and they had a poster on the wall with nine pictures of destination spots. The poster had no words so I didn’t know where any of the spots were. However, I was drawn to one. I knew I wanted to go be in that place that was on that poster. I asked and it was Phoenix, AR. At that moment I believe I knew, I was born to be in that climate, in that area, experiencing that life. I am a mountain and warm weather girl. It ain’t for er’body! But it is for me!
I love Vegas! One day….
Vegas is a place everyone should experience at least once just to see the gawdy grandour of it all. It’s a love it or hate it kind of place. The “Sin City” monikor is just the PR Marketing Machine at work. Vegas is also a place that you don’t want to absorb for more than a few days at a time. It kind of wears you out if you do. But if you live here it’s very different. I actually hardly ever go down to the Strip.

yep, a “wait in line” wedding. The minister performed the ceremony and at the end when he began to pray, we prayed too! Afterwards, the minister said he felt we were alittle different because we prayed along with him…we got into more conversation about where we were all from and he kept noting that there was a difference about us blah, blah, blah.
